Patient Details

This is what I consider advanced gynecomastia. This is a young man with a history of weight loss and female-like breasts with sagging or ptosis. His skin quality has been compromised with his weight gain (you can see stretch marks throughout his chest).

Many surgeons would have recommended skin removal with scars across his chest and around his areolas. I felt my standard, non-skin removal treatment would work sufficiently and as you can see in the photos it has done quite well. We discussed skin removal and he too wanted to avoid the scars if possible. You can also see that I used tape to secure his skin right off the operating room table to ensure the best skin retraction possible. Skin retraction/redraping happens in the first few days after surgery. Getting the skin flat is a priority in larger cases, particular with poor skin elasticity.

This is an imperfect result with a perfectly amazing outcome. He looks amazing with a shirt. He looks excellent without a shirt. He has no large permanent scars across his chest from skin removal. He is a free young man. Advanced gynecomastia cases require much experience and skilled skin/patient management.
