Patient Details

This is a big gynecomastia case in a moderately overweight patient. The goal was to contour the chest without complex, skin removal surgery and see how far we can go. In his case, this result is impressive. All Zones were treated and I removed over 2500cc of fat from his chest and about 70 grams of gynecomastia tissue from each side as well.

I approach patients like him with two options: standard, non-skin removal treatment and if all goes well to his satisfaction we are done. If not, and there are issues like skin folds, creases or excess skin, we can then do a secondary skin removal (at additional cost which is not insignificant). The good news is that I rarely have to do secondary surgery after first doing my traditional approach as patients are relatively happy even though it may not be perfect. This is called being realistic. Do you want scars all over your chest and around your areolas or can you accept a huge change for the better that may not be perfect? Which is more obvious if you were at a beach without a shirt after surgery—a flat chest relatively smooth with scars across your chest and around your areolas or a relatively flat chest with maybe some folds or creases but without scars? Food for thought. My experience is often to fully engage non skin removal treatment in many advanced cases as there is an amazing capacity for the skin to retract very well in men who have gynecomastia.
