Patient Details

Bodybuilders are a group of folks whose gynecomastia is a bit different. The treatment is different as well. They have lots of muscle and little body fat. Their tissue is often mostly glandular. The approach to treatment is focused on the removal of a dense glandular mass in such a way that the final result is smooth and natural.

These patients are at higher risk for post treatment issues such as hematoma and hard healing with scar tissue. My approach can be my standard with the use of liposuction and VASER or it can be a “frontal” approach whereby I only use my electrosurgery device and my high power glasses to remove all the gland and as little surrounding normal tissue as possible because I NEED that tissue to perform my layered closure so there is soft tissue between the overlying nipple-areola complex and underlying muscle.

This patient happens also to be super cool and works to help other bodybuilders understand gynecomastia and it’s treatment. Thank you for your help!
