35+ Years of Precision, Innovation, and Results
Dr. Caridi is a board-certified plastic surgeon with advanced training from some of the nation’s most respected academic medical institutions. He completed his undergraduate studies with honors in biology at The University of Texas at Austin before earning his medical degree at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston. He subsequently completed his internship, residency, and fellowship training within the Mount Sinai Hospital System in Manhattan, where he gained extensive experience across trauma, reconstructive, hand, and aesthetic plastic surgery.
Following his training, Dr. Caridi joined a large multi-hospital surgical group in the Chicago suburbs, where he spent nearly a decade refining his surgical judgment and technical expertise across a wide range of complex cases. His experience in high-volume hospital settings helped shape the meticulous, outcome-driven approach that defines his practice today.
Drawn to Austin, Texas, Dr. Caridi established Westlake Plastic Surgery with an exclusive focus on cosmetic surgery. Over time, his practice evolved toward a highly specialized model, emphasizing precision, consistency, and patient-specific outcomes rather than breadth.
In 2010, Dr. Caridi founded the Austin Gynecomastia Center, now recognized internationally as a premier destination for male breast reduction surgery. His focused expertise, refined techniques, and commitment to discretion have attracted patients from across the United States and abroad seeking exceptional results in a private, concierge-level setting.
Dr. Caridi’s practice philosophy centers on specialization, surgical excellence, and individualized care—serving patients who value experience, trust, and uncompromising standards.
Dr. Robert Caridi is not a typical plastic surgeon — and that distinction is intentional. His practice philosophy is grounded in professionalism, surgical judgment, and doing what is right for each individual patient.
At Austin Gynecomastia Center, he offers his expertise within a framework of safety, integrity, and responsibility. This means recommending surgery only when it will create meaningful improvement — performed thoroughly, reliably, and in a private, controlled environment. If a patient is not an appropriate candidate, or if circumstances could compromise safety or outcome, Dr. Caridi will say so. There are no shortcuts and no compromises.
Gynecomastia surgery is not a side offering in his practice — it is a focused discipline. With more than 35 years of surgical experience and thousands of gynecomastia procedures performed, Dr. Caridi possesses a deep understanding of the anatomy, pathology, hormonal influences, surgical nuances, and long-term considerations that define successful treatment. His published research helped shape the modern standard of complete pathologic tissue excision — designed to minimize recurrence and deliver a flat, natural male chest.
He is personally invested in every patient’s outcome — not only the surgical result, but the recovery process and long-term transformation. From consultation through postoperative follow-up, each case is approached with precision, completeness, and accountability.
Plastic surgery is significant. Trust is earned. Dr. Caridi takes that responsibility seriously.
Outside of his surgical practice, Dr. Caridi maintains an active lifestyle and values time spent outdoors. He has a long-standing interest in global travel and cultural study, perspectives that inform his thoughtful, patient-centered approach to care.
At this stage of his career, Dr. Caridi practices with the clarity and confidence that come from decades of experience. In addition to his clinical work, he serves as a trusted advisor and mentor within the medical community, reflecting a commitment to excellence, professional stewardship, and the advancement of his specialty.
Dr. Caridi finds deep professional satisfaction in applying his refined expertise to achieve meaningful, lasting outcomes for his patients.
